Cideous Kaliban, or Cid, was a young Tiefling born in the desert town of Ju’Nal, often ridiculed and isolated along with his mother. His only sanctuary was the Silver Serpent Tavern, where he admired the strength of the outcasts who frequented it. Determined to find his place, Cid stowed away on ships from the age of 10, learning the ways of the sea and honing his fighting skills. However, his journey took a tragic turn when a storm wrecked his ship, leading to his drowning in the perilous Strait of Daray.
After his death, Cid awoke in a mystical ocean, where he encountered Legia, a legendary sea monster. She offered him a deal: become her vessel and amuse her, in exchange for his life. Reluctantly, Cid agreed, finding himself resurrected on a deserted island with a magical scimitar. Over the next two years, he gained new powers, including a shark-like tail and the ability to breathe underwater, while entertaining Legia with various performances. Despite his intrinsic goodness, the constant influence of Legia subtly altered his moral compass.
During this time, Cid developed a complex bond with Legia, who materialized in different forms based on her whims. She even gained the ability to appear physically as an elf made of magical water, making her presence more tangible. Despite the strain of their relationship, Cid relied on the powers she granted him for survival. As they continued their intertwined existence, he found solace in the performances that kept Legia entertained, even as the emptiness within him grew. Their peculiar companionship was marked by mutual dependence, survival, and the relentless pursuit of amusement.
